The death toll from an explosion at a weapons depot in northern Syria’s Idlib province rose to 14, state broadcaster Al-Ikhbariya reported Wednesday.
Eleven others were injured in the explosion near the city of Sarmada, the Idlib Health Directorate told Al-Ikhbariya.
The depot served as a temporary storage facility for weapons and war remnants, state-run SANA news agency reported, citing the Defense Ministry.
Teams from the ministry were working with relevant authorities to secure the site, it added.
Rescue teams were searching for missing people beneath the rubble, said Subhi Assaf, a senior official at the health directorate.
Security forces closed the roads leading to the site to ensure the safety of civilians.
