Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar said Monday that a fighter jet belonging to the country’s defense forces crashed near Szolnok, with the pilot ejecting safely.
“For reasons that are not yet known, one of the Hungarian Defence Forces’ Gripen fighter jets crashed near Szolnok a few minutes ago. The pilot successfully ejected,” Magyar wrote on US social media company Facebook.
He said an investigation was underway, while Defense Minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi was on his way to the scene.
“The defense minister will provide an update shortly. According to a preliminary report, there were no injuries and no damage was caused to civilian infrastructure,” Magyar added.
